FAQ

What if I'm worried about posing?

A. Don't be! Easier said than done, I get it. I am here to help you from start to finish and then some. I know it's daunting to be in front of the camera and not everyone is comfortable with it. Movement helps to capture real, honest to goodness emotion and can help ease the awkwardness. Sometimes, it helps to make the photo more natural. You don't need to always be sitting or standing stock still, let's move, hop, walk, even play with your clothing. I know it's hard not to stiffen in front of the camera. Play with your hair put your thumb through a belt loop, swish your dress. We can always find something for your hands to do. A good rule of thumb is to place your hands near something you love or that you're comfortable with. Your arm and hand can sometimes act like an arrow and can direct the viewers eye towards the spot your hand rests. *BONUS - if your hand is on your hip/thumb in a belt loop, leave a small space between your arm and waist. Doing this will help your waist appear smaller in the photos!! I may ask you to extend your neck about an inch or so toward the camera and then tilt your chin down ever so slightly. This helps to elongate your face, neck and chin. Sometimes it helps if you breathe in and hold it, count to 3 then slowly release the breath. This can help relax your shoulders so they aren't slowly rising on their own. If it helps, act like Peter Pan, think happy thoughts! If you're thinking of a bestie or crush or something really funny, that will produce a genuine smile. Real smiles are important as a viewer can spot a fake one from a mile away. Remember, good posture! Shoulders back shows the confident you! Be authentically who you are. I cannot stress this enough. If you're nervous, practice in front of the mirror at home. Not sure which is your "good side"? (All of them are, you're beautiful). Take a selfie and the side of your face that is most prominent is your good side. You are beautiful the way you were made, and I am here to capture that shine.

Where are you based and do you travel?

A. I'm South Shore based in Massachusetts and yes, I am willing to travel! If you want me to photograph your story, it will require a travel fee, depending on where it takes place. But no worries, it's not crazy - I don't want it to be a brake for you.

When will we get our photos?

A. You will receive an online gallery link with all your photos within a maximum of 3 weeks (sometimes sooner!). You can download all the photos from the gallery but also share them, choose your favorites, and also order prints!

What should I wear?

A. When choosing a dress, make sure you're comfortable and that the dress has plenty of fabric so you can pose & move with ease. Not only are flowy dresses comfortable, but they are also flattering on all body types. Are you concerned about the right colors for your skin tone? Warmer toned people tend to look better in earthy warm tones while cool toned people really shine in cool tones such as blues and greens. If you're neutral toned, I'm jealous because you can rock any color! The easiest way for you to tell what skin tone you have is to look at the veins on your wrist. If they are a blue color, you are cool toned. If the veins appear to have an olive-y green color, you have a warm tone. If you can't tell or it looks too close to your eye, then you're neutral. Once you find what tone skin you have, it's best to stick within that color palette. Remember, white and neutral/muted tones bring about a soft, serene vibe to the photos whereas brighter jewel tones will have a pop! If you're looking for 2 outfits, pick a casual option & a dressier option. When picking an outfit, remember that less is more. People will be framing these - they will be on Grandma's wall! Rule of thumb, you don't want anything too revealing. Low-cut v-necks or skintight miniskirts also restrict movement and show more skin than you want for nice timeless photos. Make sure you love what you're wearing but you won't mind looking back in 20 years without questioning yourself. Most importantly, dress for the season/location. If we are at the beach in July, you won't want to be in a sweater with boots. If we are in the woods in December, I don't recommend shorts and flip-flops. For make-up you will want neutral or light pink tones - no lip gloss. It will catch in your hair. BIGGEST TIP - nude undergarments, they won't show no matter what color you wear.
